Hello

I'm a population geneticist and computational biologist on the R&D team at 23andMe. My research interests revolve around empirical and theoretical aspects of phylogenetics and population genetics. I did my PhD at UC Berkeley in computational evolutionary biology.

Computational population genetics

I've developed fast and efficient identity-by-descent (IBD) inference methods as well as models that use IBD to make estimates about population history. Additionally I work on models that bridge coalescent and phylogenetic theory to infer the genome wide history of entire species.

Computational phylogenetics

I've developed ancestral state reconstruction and stochastic character mapping methods in the RevBayes project. In RevBayes I've also worked on state-dependent speciation and extinction models and other birth-death processes. I'm broadly interested in mathematical models of evolution and applying them with Bayesian inference.
